I had to take this photo as soon as I saw this since it’s not something we see all the time. I was perched up high in the mountainside on a lookout overlooking Lake Louise in Banff National Park. I had my 70-200mm telephoto lens on so I was able to see the people on the canoe quite well. At one time there were several canoes bunched up all together as if they were almost going to collide with each other.
By isolating the canoes in the water and not including any other reference points in the frame, you’re able to fully focus on the several canoes in the pristine glacial-fed lake. Just look at that colour!
It’s a fun photo, and one that I could have only done with a telephoto lens. It may be a lot of work carrying a myriad of lenses, but this was one day that I’m glad I brought all of mine.
Don’t you think it was worth it?
