When you go to Algonquin Park in the summer, you will no doubt spend some time in the water. While I had canoed several times in the past, I had never kayaked on durable kayak. It’s a wonder why it took me so long to discover kayaking, as I enjoyed it thoroughly. I really like the pro inflatable kayaks with its quick acceleration, and ability to move and change directions rapidly, it was a great way to spend the day.
I started to kayak with little to no training and got the hang of it quickly. The only thing I didn’t know was how to recover should I ever tip over in the lake. I just hoped I wouldn’t have to find out the hard way. Before I started kayaking I found this great site that taught me what kayaking is.
Typically when people kayak, they don’t bring their cameras with them. But seeing the beauty around me, I knew I had to take mine with me. I was prepared as I brought my water resistant bag with me, which doubled as my dSLR bag while on the lake. With my iPhone shoved inside a $10 waterproof case and strapped around my neck, I was ready to take on the waters.
I really couldn’t get enough of the scenery around me and I wish I can do it again, sooner rather than later.
Gorgeous and serene. Thanks for taking your D800 out so the rest of us (and especially aqua phobic bunch, *raises hand*) can see what it’s like from the perspective of the kayaker.
It is quite beautiful out there. I’m impressed that you took pic #2. That’s a possible tip or drop, you risk taker, you.
I don’t think, I just do. lol… The more you think about dropping it in the water, the more you get paranoid and over-react to the situation, yielding in what you were afraid of doing in the first place. I suppose I could have easily tipped over, but I just instinctively kept my balance all the while trying to get a good enough shot of the water and the side of the kayak. I took some shots with my iphone too, although those I did not post here. You can see some of them on my instagram account though: http://www.instagram.com/smaku
You, aqua-phobic? Really? I did not know that!
