When you go out to take photos, the one thing you can’t control is the weather. You can plan ahead and be prepared as much as you can, but you’re still at the mercy of Mother Nature.

Climbing up this mountain (Old Fort Point in Jasper National Park) is no easy task, and so you really do want to make the best of it each time you get up there. The first few days I was in Jasper, it was mainly overcast during the mornings so I didn’t know what to expect. That morning I thought I would luck out since the clouds seemed to be dispersing quickly. However once I got to the top, I noticed the one place you really didn’t want the clouds to be, was the only place the clouds were present!
It was a shame, but there’s really not much you can do when this happens, other than coming back another day. I didn’t have the luxury of doing that so I came again during a sunset instead. I still took a bunch of photos though, thinking these clouds could make for something interesting. Looking at the photo above, I did notice the round mountaintop in the middle of the picture with the clouds hugging it. The rounded path of the clouds is rather interesting.
Some days were just not meant to be, and you’ll just have to accept it.
Here’s a wider view of the landscape, which is somewhat acceptable!
