(If this page hasn’t been updated any closer to the meetup date, consider this the latest update!)
Join your fellow sunrise photographers in this eagerly anticipated meetup of the year!
The 2026 Summer Solstice Edition of the Toronto Sunrise Meetup is Sunday June 21, 2026, 5:00am.
This year we’re at another different park from last year. Note the new location—Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area—is Mississauga’s newest lakefront park that just opened at the end of May…and offers stunning views of lakeshore and the city of Toronto!

How do I join?
You just show up. No registration required. This is your first and last reminder of the meetup, so put it in your calendar now!
Be sure to sign up for my mailing list below to be reminded of future meetups!

Meet me at the X
Park and meet me at the X on the map, at 5:00am!
This is the WEST parking lot of Marie Curtis Park.
We leave promptly at 5:00am to walk the pathway to our shooting spot (as shown in green).
There are plenty of shooting opportunities along our walk so you can take photos and walk as you go.
Our aim is to be at the X for 5:56am where the sun will align at the tip of the CN Tower!

Notes
- Taku will not be teaching as this is not an instructional photowalk—but you’re welcome to ask any questions!
- The pathway is paved throughout
- This walk will normally take about 20-25min. without stopping for photos
- Lots of interesting elements to photograph at Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area
- Walk starts at 5:00am, sunrise is at 5:36am, alignment is at 5:56am
- The sun will align at the tip of the CN Tower at 5:56am
- Meetup will be on even in cloudy conditions! This is a perfect time to experiment with your photography.
- Meetup may be cancelled or postponed only in the case of heavy rain or lightning. See latest update at the top of this page.

Gear
Tripod is optional. Bring one if you think you’ll make use of it. Just know that you’ll be walking with it for a while.
As for lenses, I always recommend a variety if you have them. A wide angle will allow you to include the surrounding areas while a telephoto lens will let you zoom in on a specific location of your choice.
The Toronto skyline and CN Tower are far. See below for examples.

See you there!
