These past few weeks, OLG has been advertising that their new lottery tickets now have an additional security feature that prevents fraudulent activity. Instant lottery tickets now have an additional section on the ticket, allowing you to scratch that area and scan it yourself to see if you are indeed a winner.
Does anyone else not see the irony in all of this? In essence, they are saying that you need a separate section on the ticket telling you that you won, rather than you actually finding out that you won by scratching the actual game on the ticket.
So really, there’s no need to play any more games now. You can simply scratch the other section, scan it in, and find out if you’re a winner. Now that sounds like fun.
This new security feature, I’m sure, was brought about by an occurrence that happened not too long ago, where someone had purchased an instant lottery ticket, scratched the card, and found out he was a big winner. He later then went to the office to claim his prize only to find out that the card was in fact not a winning card, and that the card was in err.
It seems like they are merely putting bandages over the wound and not actually trying to do anything about the source.
This doesn’t really affect me as I don’t really buy instant tickets, but let’s just hope these errors don’t appear in lotto 6/49 tickets anytime soon.
