Still no access…

I still have no interenet access from home. However I did manage to get Rogers to come down this Friday, which is a whole week earlier than what they originally told me.

So this results in me staying a little later at work, doing more work of my own. This bites.

I’m going home now. I need my free sundae from McDonald’s! Yummy!

I’m slowly getting to all my emails that I have to get back to. Please be patient. Thanks everyone!

No Internet Access At Home!

When you have no Internet access at home, it kind of sucks.
Something happened to our Roger’s cable modem last night and I don’t know what it was. As far as I know I don’t have any access at the moment. When I phoned Rogers to ask about the problem, they said it could be intereference from our TV or something else from within the house since the network seems to be fine at the moment.
When I asked for a technician to drop by, he kindly informed me that the soonest he can get one over here is September 8th. That’s 2 weeks!

This is insane. No Internet access for 2 weeks and I will go crazy… not to mention not being able to work on my magazine very efficiently.

Something must be done.

Something…

If I don’t answer anyone’s emails over the weekend, it’s not because I’m trying to ignore you but just because I couldn’t get my Internet access fixed tonight. I’ll respond on Monday when I get back to work.

Have a good one!

It’s days like today…

That I feel both worried and glad that I started my business of magazine production. Today was the initial deadline for all submissions for my U&I Magazine. As suspected, I have yet to receive some submissions from people who had said they would submit. I know everyone’s busy with their own work and life in general, but then again, so am I! Is asking for a submission before a deadline so much to ask for?

On the other hand, the submissions that I did receive make me want to get down to business and start this production as soon as possible. The photos and articles are so well done that I love getting them! Oh joy!

I suppose now I have more work on my hands as I have to now chase after those who have yet to submit. Hopefully I won’t have to hound too much from this point on.

Rollerblading and BBQ always goes together!

What was supposed to be a thunderstorm weekend turned out to be a not-so-rainy weekend afterall.

Rollerblading Saturday morning went as planned. We only got caught in the rain ever-so slightly. Nothing to complain about. Stopping at the restaurant at the Beaches, we each got a free Sleeman’s Original Draught beer as they were offering it as a promotional special. Not a bad beer actually!

Afterwards was BBQ at some friend’s place, which turned out to be a pretty large gathering. Lots of people to mingle around with so it was fun. No shortages of food either. Talks of future trips to Algonquin also brewed, as did some Hallowe’en party get-together. So many things and summer’s not even over yet!

As it seems, my BBQ may be postponed yet again to the second weekend of September. This is probably a month after my original date. Oh well. At least I’ll still have one. Better late than never!

Portrait in the park

After work today I ventured off to High Park. One of the largest parks in the Toronto area, and one that I don’t often go to. A friend of mine, Rannie , was continuing off his summer project, Portrait in the Park, where he would take people’s photos with his medium format, and give you two copies and scans for a suggested donation of $5. Not a bad deal I thought, so I went there not really knowing what to expect out of all of this.

It was fun. I met some new faces – even one that had submitted to U&I Magazine – and we chatted for a while. Playing with someone’s dog was always a nice treat. Boy she runs fast! Oh, and how can I forget feeding a squirrel for the first time in my life! I don’t think I ever had the chance to meet a squirrel who would voluntarily take food from out of your hands. Interesting.

All in all it was a good cap to end the work day off. Small events like this actually keep me sane while I try to manage my business. It’s a good living, isn’t it?!
