Hi, I’m Taku Kumabe, aka Smaku.
Smaku is a childhood nickname I was given by one of my brother’s friends. It has stuck with me throughout the years and now has become my alias for everything online, including this website and blog.
As a child, I’ve always loved drawing. I had a knack for drawing 3D-objects; Given an object, I would always be able to draw it in three-dimensions without much thought. This could have been the beginnings of my artistic life, but I would just pass it as some childhood curiosity phase.
Although I still love to draw with a pencil and paper, things have very much become digitally driven this day-and-age. You could say that I draw on the computer, as I busy myself during the days as a print/magazine designer. I combine images and text to make them look pretty, as some would say.
My creative side has also led me to love the art of photography. After picking up my parent’s old Canon SLR, I was hooked at the possibilities. That was back in the 90s. Fast forward a few years and you’ll now find me freelancing as a special event and festival photographer under the monicker The Festographer. Catchy, don’t you think?
Although I do love the challenges that festival photography provides me, I also love what Mother Nature provides us. And that’s where my love for nature and landscape photography comes in. It can be a little difficult living in the city, so I also dabble in cityscapes and travel photography whenever the opportunity arises.
As an established graphic designer and photographer, I have evolved my services to providing content for brands of various sizes. I aim to produce relevant and relatable content for brands and their followers, to better their ROI.
This blog is dedicated to all of the above, where I hope to share with my readers the many lessons learned throughout my experiences.
