Friday Night Live at the ROM

Friday Night Live at the ROM

Every Friday night during the spring and summertime, the Royal Ontario Museum holds a Friday Night Live event where they open their doors to museum-goers and party-lovers alike. Party-goers are able to meander through the hallways of the museum while they listen to live music, eat some great food, and mingle with friends.

It was my first time there at the event last night—but only because there was another event that I was involved with. TorontoClicks had its own little get-together in one of the museum’s section on the third floor, showcasing photography from various locals. It was great to be able to meet with new people, and talk to old friends as well. As an added bonus, everybody who had their photos showcased at this evening’s event, were gifted with a photobook with all of their photos in it.

The images were rotated on a TV screen in front of a lounge area so people could gather around and watch the screen. With so many talented individuals here in the city, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to be able to stand out from the crowd. For this particular showing, I decided to showcase my sunrise photos, which is a personal project of mine, to be able to take photos of the first light of the day. To be able to see that light rise above the horizon or skyline is just beautiful and breathtaking.

Here, the crowd watches the TV screen intently as I departed away from the lounge to explore the surrounding area. Since it was my first time at the museum since its renovation many years ago, I found it more interesting to actually walk around the museum, exploring different areas within.

If you had a sharp eye, there were plenty of great photo opportunities around every corner. I may have to go back another day just to wander around and take more photos.

All photos in this post—with the exception of the one below—are taken with my iPhone 6 Plus.

And of course, if you ever got bored of just wandering the halls aimlessly, the Friday Night Live event had its own entertainment features like this photobooth where you could dress up as a superhero and have your photo taken with the Ford car in the background. The editing was automatically done by the photobooth so I couldn’t do anything about the fact that we are totally over-edited.

Thanks to Goldie and the TorontoClicks team for organizing the event, and thanks to ROM for allowing us to take over the third floor of the museum!
