Sandylion: May 2006 - July 17, 2008

I woke up this morning only to find that my dear Sandylion Betta fish had passed away overnight.

It was sudden with no warnings or signs. It was a little suspicious that he didn’t immediatly swim towards me when it was time for me to feed him yesterday, but it wasn’t the first time.

He was given to me as a birthday present from another dear friend of mine. I named it after her actually, adding the lion to the name to reflect his fighting characteristic.

Although we didn’t do a whole lot together, he was a fun guy to have around and to watch every now and then. I saved him when he jumped out of the acquarium out of excitement from my feeding him, and I also managed to cure his enflamed eye that he somehow caught while I was on vacation.

I’m not sure what the cause was, and I’m quite curious. I wonder if it was old age, since more than two years seems to be above average for these guys.

He will be missed. And life will move on.
