Settling in
After moving locations and settling in, I am only now realizing how much junk I had accumulated over the years. Further, I also now realize that there are so many small things that I still need to purchase. When you’re starting from scratch again, it’s hard to get your things organized so quickly.
Although I have now just about bought all the necessities, I still need the smaller details in order to make my living a little better.
Of all of my purchases so far, the one thing that I am surprised about is how much my dish drainer cost me. A simple piece of plastic or rubber that you merely place on your counter to drain the water from your dishes as they dry. How could one charge more than $10 for it?
Although I knew very well that I could have bought a plastic one at the corner dollar store, I opted to get a Rubbermaid one for $10.99 at Cayne’s as it fit my dish rack just right. I just couldn’t believe that such a simple thing would cost me so much. Even more surprising is that I saw the same dish drainer on sale at the local Superstore for $11.99.
I am still in need of the following:
Curtains/blinds for all my windows
Vacuum cleaner
A study desk
…
and other small things that I just cannot even think of at the moment since I have so many things running around in my mind right now.
It’s a long weekend this weekend - Victoria Day. What I love about it is that it’s one of the first long weekends in a loooong time that I do not have to work. Leaving work this afternoon it felt kind of wrong in that I knew I wasn’t going to work on Monday. Even better, it felt so liberating to know that I do not have to work on Monday.
So here’s to a relaxing weekend… the unofficial first weekend to kick off the summer! Too bad the weather isn’t cooperating with us this time.
Must go eat some cake now…
