Save the cheerleader, save the world.

So I watched my very first Heroes episode tonight. I have to say, it is quite exciting. I can see why it frequently comes up in conversation here and there. Packed with super powers that one could only wish to have, it’s quite cleverly written and nicely acted.

I still can’t get over the fact that Hiro-san’s sidekick can’t speak Japanese very well though. I noticed this the first time I saw part of this show, which was back in Season 1. His speech sounds like he’s merely reading a script. However I suppose the casting call may have asked for a second-generation Japanese so as not to overpower the Japaneseness (did I just make this word up?) of Hiro himself.

Even though I’ve only seen this one episode, I feel like I’ve seen a lot of them as this one explained many things that happened in the past. Will I continue to watch this show though? Not likely… well, at least I won’t make a conscious effort to watch it every week. If I happen to find myself in front of the tube at this time a night, then maybe I will.

The last time I was actually religiously watching a TV series was Smallville (not including The Apprentice and The Amazing Race). Do you see some resemblance here with Heroes? Super powers… saving the world… yeah. They’re all the same. But who can resist not watching Kristen Kreuk or Allison Mack for that matter?

I still here that song in my head somedays… somebody saaaaaaave me….
